How To Design A Kitchen That Is Easy To Maintain

The kitchen is one of the most frequently used rooms in a home; often used multiple times per day. It is an area that can be exposed to dirt, grime and even messy children!!! This is why when you renovate your kitchen you should be planning it out properly and choosing premium quality products which are easy to clean, so you can spend less time cleaning and more time doing what you love.

So what do you do when designing your renovated kitchen to help reduce the chance of mess and ensure it lasts?

CHOOSE A GLASS SPLASHBACK OVER TILES

Glass splashbacks are much easier to clean and maintain because there is no grout so you can wipe clean any spillage that occurs. Additionally, because there are no joins in a glass splashback you do not have the risk of bacteria growing either which means is beneficial for your overall health. Famous Frameless provide professional glass splashback installation in Melbourne.

If you like the design of tiles then you can still have it as well thanks to a recent product release by FGS Glass. A recently released new range 3DS, which has many designs, and enables you to have the tiled design as a glass splashback and therefore much easier to clean. See the above image which shows you an example.

SELECT SMOOTH CUPBOARDS

Whilst fancy cupboards with designer grooves can look pretty, they can also be harder to clean. Having smooth surfaces can be easier because you can quickly wipe them down as you need too. The only exception to this rule of course would be cutout pulls (such as drawers) because they can collect dust and crumbs quite easily.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT BENCHTOP MATERIAL

As the benchtop is such a regularly used area which often receives a spill, it is important to consider materials which will make the constant cleaning easier for you. Choose a material for your benchtop which prevents stains and is easy to wipe clean. Surfaces such as Corian are hygienic and often used in hospitals and other high traffic areas. CHOOSE GOOD QUALITY APPLIANCES + ACCESSORIES

When choosing appliances for your kitchen, it is easy to focus solely on the appearance. However it is also important to consider the ongoing maintenance required and often it is best to choose appliances that are easy to wipe clean without needing a lot of effort. An example of this could be choosing an induction oven, which is easy to wipe down, in comparison to a gas oven which is harder because of the grate and other components.

When choosing accessories for your kitchen, make sure they are easy to clean as well. This also applies to furniture because it is used so often. An example with furniture could be avoiding having too many exposed open nooks because these are also notorious for gathering dust and will create extra work for you.
